What's scary in CrossFit?
From power snatches, double unders to AMRAPs. For me Crossfit became like an
addiction, the more exercises you do and the more you outgrow yourself, the more you
want it. But first, let me introduce myself shortly: I am Stefanie, originally from Germany
and I started Crossfit four weeks ago at CrossFit Sörnainen.
Why did I choose to start with Crossfit
- and what were my expectations?
I chose Crossfit because the classic training in the gym became a bit too monotonous for me. Crossfit is so incredibly diverse and it gives you the possibility to train together in a group. From joining a Crossfit box, I expected to be able to grow beyond my own limits and to achieve my physical goals and make progress. If there is one thing that Crossfit definitely accomplishes, it is that you certainly grow beyond your own limits with every single training. Especially Crossfit Sörnainen gives you the opportunity to track your progress and to stay motivated seeing your achieved personal goals.

Before and during my first Crossfit training I was a bit overwhelmed by all the different
kind of exercises. However, this fear was taken away from me very quickly. During every
training session at Crossfit Sörnainen, all exercises are explained and demonstrated in
detail. The coaches go to great lengths in order to ensure that all exercises are understood and performed correctly. However, I was also afraid that I would not really fit into the group since I had very little experience with Crossfit and I am not the tallest person and not very strong. But what I realised quickly is that acceptance is very important at Crossfit Sörnainen and everyone is welcome as they are. I have only been doing Crossfit now for approximately four weeks, but it has already captivated me in no time and I cannot wait to continue doing snatches, dead lifts and others exercises.
